Alireza Sagharchi RIBA, FRSA. is the Principal of
Stanhope Gate Architecture and Urban Design,. He received his
Diploma in Architecture from the University of Westminster [PCL],
London, and has been a corporate member of the Royal Institute
of British Architects and a Chartered Architect since 1986.
Before setting up Stanhope Gate in 2002, he was The Senior Associate
with the firm of Porphyrios Associates, whose work follows the
principles of traditional architecture and urbanism . He has been
responsible for a number of high-profile projects, including master-planning,
in the commercial, resort/leisure and private residential sectors,
in the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East. Notable
among these projects the Danube Delta Resort ; Embassies in Mayfair
and Belgravia, London; the New Quadrangle and Theatre for Magdalen
College, Oxford; the Kings Cross regeneration preliminary master
plan, London; Princeton university Whitman College master plan,
major office buildings in Brindleyplace, Birmingham, and Reading,
England and five-star hotels, in Germany, Greece and Egypt.
He has taught at the Prince of Wales' Institute of Architecture
and Greenwich University. He has been a visiting critic at Yale,
the Notre Dame summer school and at the Welsh schools of Architecture.
A founder member of the Traditional Architects Group (TAG)
at the R.I.B.A., he serves on its executive committee. He is a
member of ICTP, the International College of Traditional Practitioners
of (INTBAU)
the International Network for Traditional Building Architecture
and Urbanism. He sits on the Casework Panel of the Georgian Group
and is also a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
